🌟 CBSS Alumni Spotlight 🌟
This week, we're featuring Kennedy Boston-Woods, a 2022 Marketing graduate and 2024 MBA graduate. Kennedy shares her favorite CBSS memories, the professors who influenced her journey, and advice for current and future students.
💼 WHAT IS YOUR CURRENT TITLE AND COMPANY?
I currently work as Coordinator of Alumni Affairs at ULM.
📊 WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE CBSS COURSE?
I thoroughly enjoyed every marketing course I took, but if I had to choose a favorite, it'd be Advertising Sales Promotion with Melissa Kiper. Getting to delve into the thought process behind creating visuals and understanding your audience was something I found incredibly interesting. Many of the concepts I learned in this course are things I still apply in my current role as Coordinator.
🦅 WHICH PROFESSOR HAD THE BIGGEST IMPACT ON YOUR CAREER?
I have to give credit to two professors that had the biggest impact on my career and that'd be Mrs. Melissa Kiper and Dr. Zachary Moore. I took multiple courses with both professors over the years where I got to see the full scope of what I could do with my marketing degree. They also presented many opportunities to us students through Marketing Club that allowed us to gain real world knowledge and experience.
🐊 WHAT IS ONE CAMPUS TRADITION YOU MISS THE MOST?
Fortunately, I'm still on campus and get to participate in lots of the campus traditions, but catching up with my friends on Fried Chicken Wednesday is something that I miss.
🎯 FINISH THIS SENTENCE: "THE BEST CAREER OR EDUCATIONAL ADVICE I EVER RECEIVED WAS..."
from my mom when I was considering changing my major from biology to marketing. She told me that I was the one who would have to wake up every day and do the work, so I should choose something that made me happy. That advice stuck with me, and it gave me the confidence to follow a path that felt right for me. Changing my major was one of the best decisions I've made.
💡 WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO STUDENTS WHO ARE CONSIDERING A MAJOR IN THE COLLEGE OF BUSINESS AND SOCIAL SCIENCES?
If you're considering a major in the College of Business and Social Sciences, don't limit yourself! There's a world of opportunities in this field so be open to exploring different paths. You never know where your degree could lead you!

Happy National Accounting Day!!
Did you know that only about 20% of AACSB-accredited business schools worldwide hold separate AACSB accounting accreditation? This distinction recognizes the highest standards in accounting education.
We’re proud that the Accounting program at ULM is one of them.
