RESEARCH REVEALED
In this month’s research revealed article Katja Porenta looks at some studies carried out by Dr Sue Dyson and colleagues at the Animal Health Trust in Newmarket, UK in relation to the occurrence of saddle slip in the ridden horse. They looked into the possible reasons for saddle slip and came to a few interesting conclusions. STALLS RESEARCH
A team of French scientists at the agricultural science agency INRA recently confirmed what most of us already knew – individual stabling is not a healthy environment for a horse to live in. Stabling horses for long periods of time is detrimental to their health in many different ways and should be avoided as much as possible. Not only does living outside help the horse’s mental wellbeing, it has a huge positive impact on pretty much all systems of his body. While spending most of the time outside is the most natural way for the horse to live, the transition from spending time in a stall to spending more time outside should be made gradually and carefully to ensure safety and reduce stress levels. The study is a fascinating read and is available here:

TWO NEW VIDEOS FOR EQUITOPIA MEMBERS!
Last month, we traveled to Germany to meet with one of our trainers, Lotta Hinz (and her 4-year old warm-blood mare, Philippa); Dr Lena Clifford, and Darrall Clifford - both from Animal Biomechanical Solutions. We decided to do an impromptu evaluation of Philippa and record it for members of the Equitopia program in the 'behind the scenes' category - we hope you like it!
