They learned from the Toxicology department, a compounding exercise in the lab, and a Stop the Bleeding and Stroke Awareness course.

Third year pharmacy students Karli Fulmer, Tierney Gammage, Megan Lynn, Dalayna Hicks, Makynzi LeGros, and Nina Becnel, along with faculty member Stephen Hill, attended the 10th annual APhA Institute on Substance Use Disorders from May 27th-May 30th.

The students gained valuable insight into the complexities of substance use disorder as a chronic disease through interactive sessions and discussions. This experience equipped them with the knowledge and empathy needed to engage more meaningfully with patients in their communities who may be struggling with substance use.

In addition to the educational programming, the students had the opportunity to explore the beautiful city of Salt Lake City, Utah. This experience helped foster both personal growth and professional development in the students' journey to becoming future pharmacists.
