This made my day . . . "Back by popular demand!"

I can't tell you how good it makes me feel to see that!

In addition to Stress or Sleep: Who's Winning, I'll be presenting, When Tired Looks Like Trouble.

As a former Special Education Teacher, I was surprised when I first learned this:

In 2021, the American Academy of Pediatrics published “How to Differentiate Sleep Disorders From ADHD,” highlighting how undiagnosed sleep problems can mimic ADHD, learning difficulties, and emotional challenges.

One important takeaway? Sleep should be part of the conversation when a child is showing ADHD-like symptoms.

Sometimes, what looks like a behavior problem may actually be a sleep problem.

Lazy. Unmotivated. Irresponsible.

"They just need to go to bed earlier."

"They're wasting the day away."

I've heard these comments more times than I can count.

But sometimes the problem isn't a lack of discipline.

Sometimes it's a circadian rhythm that's out of sync.

Sometimes it's an actual circadian rhythm disorder.

Sometimes poor sleep habits keep the cycle going.

And sometimes chronic sleep deprivation contributes to depression, making everything feel harder.

We tend to judge what we can see.

We don't always see the biology underneath it.

We can't always see what's happening beneath the surface.

And what looks like laziness may actually be someone struggling with their sleep.

If this reminds you of yourself, your teenager, your college student, or someone you care about, don't assume they're just lazy.

Ask questions.

There may be more going on than you realize.

If you have questions about sleep or circadian rhythms, I'm always happy to help.

Vacation Sleep: 3 Things I Tell Families Before They Travel

Vacation doesn't have to mean sleep chaos! A little prep goes a long way.

1. Keep wake time close to normal

Try to stay within an hour of your child's usual wake time, even with time zone changes. It keeps their internal clock from getting too thrown off, and it's easier to course-correct from a small shift than a big one.

2. Bring familiar bedtime items

That favorite stuffed animal, sound machine, or even a small nightlight — pack it. Familiar cues tell their brain "this is still bedtime," even in an unfamiliar room.

3. Expect a few days to readjust when you get home

Sleep regressions after travel are normal, not a sign you did something wrong! Give it 3-5 days of consistent routine and your little one's sleep should bounce back.

4. If they're sharing a room with you, set the expectation early

Co-sleeping or room-sharing on vacation happens — just give them a heads-up that it's temporary, and they'll go back to their own room once you're home.

Traveling with kids is already a lot — you don't need perfect sleep too. Just a little structure goes a long way!

Summer memories and sleepovers go hand in hand.

Overnights at Grandma's house, movie nights, and sleepovers with friends are all part of being a kid. And yes, that sometimes means a later bedtime.

But one of the best things you can do for your child (and for your own sanity 😅) is to keep their sleep routine fairly close to what it looks like during the school year.

A late night here and there? No problem.

But when one fun night turns into a weekend, and the weekend turns into weeks of staying up hours later than usual, many families start seeing more:

😴 Cranky days
😴 Bedtime battles
😴 Emotional meltdowns
😴 Kids who are tired, but can't seem to settle down

Childhood should absolutely include sleepovers and special occasions. They create wonderful memories!

Just remember: a few late nights are normal, but weeks of late nights can make everyone feel the effects.

Enjoy the fun, make the memories, and whenever possible, aim to keep bedtime and wake-up times reasonably consistent.

Your future self will thank you. 😉

Do Mondays feel extra rough for your family?

I once worked with a beautiful, wise woman named Hester who would greet everyone at work on Monday mornings with a small gift. She’d say, “No one likes Mondays—so this is something to look forward to.” How sweet is that?!

Mondays are tough for adults—but they can be even harder for kids. The shift from a weekend schedule back to the weekday routine can lead to groggy mornings, cranky attitudes, and extra battles. So, how can we make Mondays (a little) easier for our kids and ourselves?

Here are a few tips to ease the transition:

1️⃣ Keep weekend bedtimes as consistent as possible. A drastic shift can throw off your child’s internal clock (and yours!).

2️⃣ Avoid big sleep-ins. Yes, it’s tempting! But try to limit extra sleep to 30–40 minutes to prevent a Monday morning meltdown.

3️⃣ Give your child something to look forward to on Mondays. Maybe it’s a little TV time if they get ready extra quick before the bus comes, listen to a fun playlist in the car, or place a small treat & note in their lunchbox. A little Monday magic can make a big difference!

Mondays may never be easy, but a little consistency and a small incentive can make them better! What’s your favorite way to make Monday mornings smoother for your family?

Hey mama… can I ask you something? 💛

When was the last time you actually felt rested?

Not just “I got through the day”…
Not just “I had coffee so I survived”…
But truly rested—clear-headed, patient, and yourself again?

Because I talk to so many moms who are:

- exhausted but can’t fall asleep
- waking up in the middle of the night (and can’t get back to sleep)
- running on empty while taking care of everyone else

And the truth is…
Sleep doesn’t magically fix itself. But it can get better—with the right support.

That’s exactly why I created Master Your Sleep 💫

This is a small, supportive program where we:
✨ Figure out what’s actually getting in the way of your sleep
✨ Make simple, realistic changes (no perfection required)
✨ Help you feel more like you again

You’ll get:

2 private 1:1 sessions with me
6 small group sessions with other moms who get it
Weekly guidance, support, and real-life strategies

We start in early May, and I’m keeping this very small (just 4 spots) so everyone gets the attention they deserve.

💛 Payment options available
💛 And yes—you can absolutely message me with questions first

If you’ve been saying “I just need to sleep better”… this is your sign.

When kids know exactly what to do before waking parents, mornings shift from chaotic to calm—and you protect a little extra rest.

Create a Morning Reset Plan:

—Wake-Up Light Rule: Green = come out. Red = Quiet Basket time.

—Snack Station (optional): Pre-portioned dry snacks + water bottle in a kid-reach spot for true early birds (use if you’re comfortable).

—Morning Choices Chart: 3 pictures: Quiet Basket • Look at books • Build blocks on play mat. (I LOVE the use of visuals!)

“Good Morning Script.” Teach what to say when they do come in: “Good morning, Mommy. Is it time to get up?” (Instead of full-volume jumping on bed.) Practice it during the day—make it silly.

Parent Buffer Alarm: Set your own alarm 5 mins before the light turns green so you greet them on-purpose, and praise them for not waking you early!

Optional Add-On: If early rising becomes a pattern, nudge bedtime earlier in 10–15 min increments every 3–4 nights until wake time stabilizes.

You’re doing a great job juggling summer fun with sleep needs. If you’d like help customizing a sleep strategy for your child, message me—I’d love to support you.

Bedtime should be when your child is sleepy—not exhausted.

Look for signs like:

• slower movement
• rubbing eyes
• zoning out

If we miss the sleepy window, children can become overtired and wired.
