🎉 Welcome to Our Newest Tutor, Steve! 🎉
We are excited to introduce Steve, the newest volunteer tutor in our Literacy Program!
Steve has recently been matched with learners Maria and Gerardo, and we are grateful for his willingness to share his time, knowledge, and encouragement. Volunteer tutors play an important role in helping adult learners build confidence, strengthen their English skills, and achieve their personal goals.
Thank you, Steve, for volunteering with the Council and for making a difference in our community. We are thrilled to have you as part of our team and look forward to the positive impact you will make!

Thank you to the Monroe WI Noon Optimists for the invitation and giving us the opportunity to share more about the Literacy Council of Green County. We are grateful for your support and for helping us spread the word about our mission!
Today at our Noon Optimist meeting, we had the pleasure of meeting Karin Monzon Krimmer, Executive Director of the Literacy Council of Green County.
The Literacy Council (501 (c) (3) non profit, was founded in 1997 and has been self funded with donations and grants since 2014. Karin, a Guatemalan native, arrived in the US in 2002 and came to Monroe in 2006. She has been with the Literacy Council since 2020.
The mission statement of the Green County Literacy Council is, “ Empowering adult learners with the English language, one word at a time.”
They are located on the second floor of the Monroe Public Library, and at the present time have 28 tutors and 72 adult learners. Those enrolled to learn English are natives of over 10 countries. At the present time, there are 11 or more on the waiting list.
Volunteers are always needed, if you have questions, call 608-293-3161 (text messages are encouraged.)
