10 years ago today, four friends held the inaugural lesson for Monroe Swing. While the original crew are no longer the instructors and the lessons aren't next to the Knights of Columbus hall anymore, I'm proud of the fact that this group, in its various iterations, has continued to introduce people to swing dancing for 10 consecutive years.
I'd like to give a huge shoutout to Luke Iott and Dawson Vore for taking up the mantle and keeping Monroe Swing going, first in Monroe and now in Milan, after us original four got married and moved away.
If you'd like to celebrate 10 years of swing (or just dust off your dancing shoes), I encourage you to check out Luke and Dawson's swing nights. Every Tuesday (SO YOU CAN GO TODAY!) at Wilson Park in Milan, they still offer a FREE beginner lesson at 6:00 followed by FREE open dancing at 7:00 so head on out to Milan tonight and dance up a storm!
