Master’s students Maya Bourgeois and Daegan Castille presented their research project along with Ms. Lezlee Vincent and Dr. Kelly Koch yesterday at the Louisiana Speech and Hearing Association annual convention. Morgan Dunkley was not able to be there but Dr. Koch did her best to fill Morgan’s shoes.

Way to go ULM SLP faculty and students!

Happy National Speech-Language Pathology Day to all the retired, current, and future SLPs! We might be biased, but we think being an SLP is the BEST profession! 😉

Happy National SLP Day, friends! 💚

In case you don’t hear it enough: The work you do matters. The way you keep showing up for your students and clients (despite the many challenges in the way) matters. The way you keep learning and growing in your knowledge, relationships, and practice matters. 💚 Making a difference, one word at a time.

“My medical internship provided an incredible opportunity to grow as both a clinician and a teammate. Mrs. Brooke Reeves and Mrs. Callie LaBeff provided supervision and mentorship at Landmark Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation where I spent my time working with adult populations navigating cognitive-communication disorders, dementia, and dysphagia, with a heavy focus on strengthening executive functioning and memory. I am incredibly grateful for my clinical educators’ combined guidance. By the time I finished my rotation, I had established genuine rapport and friendships with patients, nursing staff, housekeeping, and my fellow therapy teams in PT and OT. I’m proud to have been part of such a dedicated team.”

I’m incredibly grateful for the mentorship and opportunities that prepared me for what’s next. ULM SLP will always be a special part of my story. ❤️”

“Transitioning from an SLPA to a Master’s candidate has been about bridging the gap between clinical intuition and the scientific ‘why’ behind evidence-based therapy. I’m incredibly grateful for my time at ULM, where I’ve had the chance to lead within NSSLHA and grow alongside an amazing cohort of future clinicians. My philosophy remains centered on neurodiversity and pediatric care, with a commitment to treating every individual with the dignity they deserve. I’m walking away from grad school not just with a degree, but with a level-headed perspective shaped by my family and a passion for advocating for my clients in a way that truly sees them.”

Congratulations, Natasha!

“I’m incredibly grateful to have been a part of ULM’s SLP graduate program. This journey challenged me in many ways, helped me grow both personally and professionally, and strengthened the confidence I will carry with me into my career. Every challenge and opportunity along the way played a role in shaping me into the clinician I hope to become. I’m especially grateful for the faculty and supervisors who supported, encouraged, and believed in me throughout the entire process.”
