I'd say a pretty good year of flying in 2023!
When do you raise flaps in SR22? We did a test today:
1) Following Flight director (7.5 degrees pitch), raise flaps at 90kts, continue to accel to 120kts, then climb to caps altitude. Took 50 seconds. 84 degree temp.
2) Climb with flaps down at Vy (best rate) at 92 kts until CAPS altitude, then raise flaps, accel to 120 cruise climb. Took 33 seconds and temp was over 90.
33% less time outside CAPS envelope with takeoff/climb #2. And, during the 33”, there was a lot of time to set back on runway and stop in event of catastrophic failure.
SR20’s don’t climb as well with flaps 50, but this certainly works well in a 22T.

Why Cirrus Owner Coaching?
Why Cirrus Owner Coaching? Cirrus Owner Coaching allows a Cirrus Owner and pilot to take the ownership and flying experience to the next level. Most airplane owners settle for flying with a CFI when they transition into a new airplane or for recurrent training. A CFI can teach you how to land a Cirrus safely and can even walk...

Great fuel stop at Lake City

#1 at KTPF. Love seeing the Icon A5 flying patterns
Scenario: 70kts on takeoff. You hear a loud “Bang” outside the plane and feel yaw. Quick glance at engine and everything green. Do you abort takeoff or rotate and climb away?
You just blew a tire. Rejecting the takeoff is the natural reaction, but may be the worse thing you can do: heavy, fast, less runway remaining and directional control and braking problems. Could be tough to stay on the runway.
Better plan to continue takeoff, find another airplane to look you over, burn down fuel, then land on a wide, long runway with blown tire on centerline. Arrange with someone on ground ahead of time to have a tug waiting to pull you clear so runway doesn’t close down for long.

Your Garmin equipped SR22/22T is a little more complex than this 1941 Piper Cub. Flying with a factory trained and experienced CSIP can help you learn more than you might from even the best CFI. How often do you get recurrent training?
