🎙️ 11 YEARS OF 98.7 WVMO — THE VOICE OF MONONA! 🎉
Eleven years ago today, 98.7 WVMO – The Voice of Monona went on the air for the very first time.
For station founders Paul Meyer Lindsay Wood Davis, and Tom Teuber, the idea was simple: create a truly hyper-local radio station that brought the community together through music, stories, and local voices.
They wanted to take radio back to a time when local meant local—when a radio station could be more than something you listened to. It could be a gathering place. A community hub. The center of the community wheel.
Eleven years later, we're proud to say that vision is still at the heart of WVMO.
We continue to focus on Monona and the people who make this community special. We continue to champion local musicians, local organizations, local events, and local voices. And we continue to curate a wide variety of Americana music, because we believe there should always be something on WVMO that makes you stop and say, “I've never heard this song, but I really like it!”
But a radio station is only as strong as the community behind it.
So, thank you to our incredible listeners, our volunteers, our supporters, our program hosts, and everyone who has given their time, talent, or resources to WVMO over the past 11 years.
And a special thank you to the City of Monona's mayors (Bob Miller, Mary O'Connor and Mayor Nancy Moore - City of Monona} alders and administration, past and present, who have continued to believe in the value of having a locally owned and locally focused radio station in our community.
Eleven years on the air. Thousands of songs. Countless conversations, concerts, broadcasts, and community moments.
And we're just getting started.
