Tasha Bernius (Dec 24 graduate) presented her innovative and well-received rhetorical criticism “I am Spartacus, We are Spartacus” at the Undergraduate Honors Conference during the Central States Communication Association’s meeting in early April. Congratulations, Tasha!
We are thankful for a student travel grant that supported Tasha’s conference participation.

Students in Small Group Communication collaborated with Recharge Teen Center to plan and execute a Quarter Auction fundraiser on April 4. Students prepped and sold food, secured donations, emceed throughout the
evening, and communicated with vendors to make this successful event happen! Thank you, Recharge Teen Center, for allowing us to learn from and work with you!

Students in Small Group Communication are planning and executing a fundraiser in collaboration with Recharge Teen Center in Monmouth. This organization serves local 13-19 year olds in numerous ways including mentorship, tutoring, and providing educational and social events. The college students are meeting area residents, learning about the role of places like RTC in a community, and reflecting on the importance of effective communication in small groups. This promotional flyer was created by one of the teams in the class.

A very big Congratulations to Senior Anita Gandara for presenting her research at the Central States Communication Association’s Undergraduate Honors Research Conference. Guided by former professor Dr. Trudi Peterson, Anita’s research extended co-cultural theory while examining communication practices of Latina students.
