🎃🍬 Happy National Candy Corn Day! 🍬🌽
Did you know the corn in candy corn doesn’t come from sweet corn?
It actually comes from field (dent) corn - the same kind Illinois farmers grow for livestock feed, ethanol, and thousands of everyday products like crayons, tires, and makeup.

So while candy corn may not be everyone’s favorite Halloween treat, it’s a sweet reminder of how versatile field corn really is! 💛

SOIL YOUR UN**ES! (Did that get your attention?! 😎)
We are excited to have Mrs. Anna Sharp with Warren-Henderson Agriculture in the Classroom with us again this year. Mrs. Sharp brings a variety of ag related lessons and experiments to schools in our bi-county area. She has started a year long experiment with the ICS Junior High called "Soil Your Un**es"! They will learn about microbes and soil health and bury 3 pairs of white cotton underwear to see how the microbes in the soil are working. Our very own, Miss Warren County, Malia Killey, ICS Class of 2019, will be accompanying and assisting Mrs. Sharp. Thank you to Warren-Henderson Farm Bureau, Warren-Henderson Ag in the Classroom Miss Warren County Fair Queen Pageant - Illinois!

CHS Inc and CoBank are providing $500 classroom grants to PreK - 12th grade general education teachers whose classroom projects use agricultural concepts to teach reading, writing, math, nutrition, science, and/or social studies.

$500 classroom grant proposals are due November 15th.

I'm honored to have Miss Warren County Fair Queen Pageant - Illinois, Miss Malia Killey, join me this year. She's already been a great help at Ag Day for 4th grade, Kids Day at the festival, Ag Safety Day for 5th grade, and classroom visits to ICS & United Intermediate. It's going to be such a fun year with her by my side!
