My thoughts….
No one has ever said to me, they regret achieving a Black Belt. People all the time seem to remember what belt color they were when they quit, or when their parents let them quit. In every conversation they regretted quitting.
Parents come to me asking us to provide discipline, confidence, respect, and perseverance. But they will let their kids quit as soon as it gets difficult. I've never quit on a child or adult. I am surprised on how many people quit on themselves.
If there was a place that would always praise your child, encourage them to be better than yesterday and live by example the life skills we teach, why wouldn’t every child be involved in such a system.
As a young adultI found a family and a sense of belonging in martial arts. I found a purpose and passion I never knew I had. I learned that if I don't set a goal to get a certain color belt or Black Belt but rather make Taekwondo a lifestyle, then I may train for many years. (37 so far)
Taekwondo is not easy, you have to perform, train, and speak in front of people. You also have to be tested, fail, and under perform at times. You will experience many highs and lows.
BUT If you trust the process, instructors and commit to the challenge you will accomplish something everyone will appreciate and recognize as a major accomplishment, a Black Belt! The 2 belts we all know are White and Black. If you know nothing about Martial Arts you know to be a Black Belt it takes discipline, confidence, respect, and perseverance to attain such a notable achievement.
The main excuses are: No time, not in shape, cost too much, I could never remember all that..... blah, blah, blah
We can take this approach in every aspect of our lives.
Find the courage, try something new, step out of your comfort zone. You just may find a purpose and passion you never knew you had.
💔What would *you* do if you were alone and had a heart attack?💔
1.
Take a 2 minute break and read this:
Let's say it's 5:25 pm and you're driving home after an unusually hard day's work.
2.
You are really tired and frustrated.
All of a sudden you have chest pains. They are starting to radiate in your arm and jaw. It feels like you’re being stabbed in the chest and heart. You're only a few miles away from the nearest hospital or home.
3.
Unfortunately you don't know if you can make it..
4.
Maybe you've taken CPR training, but the person running the course hasn't told you how to help yourself.
5.
How do you survive a heart attack when you're alone when it happens? A person who is feeling weak and whose heart is beating hard has only about 10 SECONDS!! before losing consciousness.
6.
But you can help yourself by coughing repeatedly and very strongly! Deep breaths before every cough. Coughing should be repeated every second until you arrive at the hospital or until your heart starts to beat normally.
7.
Deep breathing gives oxygen to your lungs, and coughing movements boost the heart and blood circulation. Heart pressure also helps to restore a normal heartbeat. This is how cardiac arrest victims can make it to the hospital for the right treatment.
