A deferral is not a polite “no.”

It’s a school asking for a fuller picture in the Regular Decision round.

Three things every family should know:

1️⃣ You are now in the Regular Decision pool.

2️⃣ Your application will be reviewed alongside the broader applicant cohort.

3️⃣ Strong mid-year grades matter. This is often the single most influential update a school receives.

A compelling update letter also helps. Students should highlight academic momentum, recent achievements, and continued interest.

🎓 December is crunch time for college applicants. If you're navigating Regular Decision deadlines, here’s a simple checklist to stay ahead:

✅ Start with firm dates
Map out all Regular Decision deadlines in one calendar view. Visibility drives action.

✍️ Prioritize supplements
Many schools require short, thoughtful essays. These take time - start early and revise often.

📨 Ask for help early
Teachers and counselors get swamped in December. Submit recommendation and transcript requests ASAP.
