This week in GoCAPS, our Global Business students toured the airport at Jack Henry, while our Medical students completed HIPAA training at Cox. Both experiences gave students valuable opportunities to explore their career pathways, gain hands-on knowledge, and learn more about the professional skills needed in their future careers. We’re excited to see our students continue learning and growing through real-world experiences! 🩺✈️

Meet Hector Rueda! Hector represents the Business strand of GoCaps.

After High School: Hector dreams of making a difference in his community by helping others. He hopes to pursue a career in a people-focused business, healthcare administration, or respiratory therapy, while also becoming a mental health advocate.

GoCaps students had the opportunity to step outside the classroom during a Leadership Ranch field trip, where they faced a variety of challenges designed to strengthen leadership and teamwork skills. Through collaboration, communication, and creative problem-solving, students worked together to find solutions to each obstacle. Camp volunteers helped students reflect on the skills they used and connect them to how these skills will be valuable in the workforce and college. This experience showed the importance of thinking outside the box, working together, and learning from one another.

On Thursday, September 17th, our Agribusiness students had the opportunity to help host the SW REEC Field Day, a regional event that drew over 1,500 students from area schools! The event was hosted by the University of Missouri's College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources (CAFNR) and MU Extension.

Students assisted with cattle brought in from the University of Missouri's College of Agriculture, and the day featured research presentations and discussions on beef, forage, and horticultural crop production — tailored for agricultural producers, industry partners, and FFA students. The event showcased the diversity of southwest Missouri agriculture, spotlighted local industry career opportunities, and put academic research directly into the hands of area landowners and producers.

Proud of our students for representing GO CAPS and gaining hands-on exposure to the ag industry!

•🩷On Wednesdays, we wear PINK!🩷

Our GoCaps crew is showing up in pink while we continue working hard on our Chamber projects! We've been learning, collaborating, brainstorming, and putting our ideas together with the help of some amazing business partners. It's so fun getting to learn from each other and see our projects come to life!

What does profession-based learning look like in action? Today, it looks like this. 💙🩺🐑

Medicine & Healthcare, Healthcare & Emergency Services (EMT), and Agri-Business & Food Systems students partnered with Monett Intermediate School for Healthy Kids Day — and these students didn't just participate, they made it happen. From planning and design to full ex*****on, today was their project from start to finish.

Intermediate school students rotated through stations led by GO CAPS students covering CPR, basic first aid, the dangers of energy drinks, blood pressure monitoring, and even suturing skills. And over in the Agri-Business & Food Systems corner? Live lambs and two varieties of chickens were on hand to give young students a hands-on introduction to agriculture.

Today is a beautiful example of what we call durable skills — the professionalism, communication, leadership, and performance that GO CAPS students develop and carry with them long after graduation. Watching them teach, lead, and inspire younger students is something truly special.

There's nothing quite like watching students become mentors. 💙

Medicine & Healthcare students recently visited Monett Middle School's 8th grade Careers classes to give younger students a closer look at the world of healthcare. They shared information on a variety of healthcare career pathways — and then took things up a notch by leading an engaging, hands-on introduction to CPR skills.

Inspiring the next generation, sharing life-saving knowledge, and representing GO CAPS with professionalism and heart — our students did all of that and more. We love seeing the ripple effect of profession-based learning in our community!

Not all educators stand at the front of a classroom — and that's exactly the point. 🍎

Teacher Education students got an inside look at the world of Speech-Language Pathology, learning from Morgan Hastings and Suzanne Sloane, SLPs right here in the Monett R-1 School District.

From supporting students with communication challenges to collaborating with teachers and families, SLPs play a vital role in helping young minds grow and thrive. For several of our students, the experience went even deeper — after job shadowing with SLPs this year, they've chosen Speech-Language Pathology as their career pathway. That's the GO CAPS difference. 💙

Congratulations to our GO CAPS Healthcare & Emergency Services students on earning their EMT-B certification. The dedication, focus, and heart these students poured into this program has prepared them to show up when it matters most — and we couldn’t be prouder. Thank you to the amazing instructors with the Barry - Lawrence County Ambulance!
