What does profession-based learning look like in action? Today, it looks like this. πŸ’™πŸ©ΊπŸ‘

Medicine & Healthcare, Healthcare & Emergency Services (EMT), and Agri-Business & Food Systems students partnered with Monett Intermediate School for Healthy Kids Day β€” and these students didn't just participate, they made it happen. From planning and design to full ex*****on, today was their project from start to finish.

Intermediate school students rotated through stations led by GO CAPS students covering CPR, basic first aid, the dangers of energy drinks, blood pressure monitoring, and even suturing skills. And over in the Agri-Business & Food Systems corner? Live lambs and two varieties of chickens were on hand to give young students a hands-on introduction to agriculture.

Today is a beautiful example of what we call durable skills β€” the professionalism, communication, leadership, and performance that GO CAPS students develop and carry with them long after graduation. Watching them teach, lead, and inspire younger students is something truly special.

Thank you to Monett Intermediate School for the opportunity to bring GO CAPS learning into your community! πŸ‘πŸ©Ί

There's nothing quite like watching students become mentors. πŸ’™

Medicine & Healthcare students recently visited Monett Middle School's 8th grade Careers classes to give younger students a closer look at the world of healthcare. They shared information on a variety of healthcare career pathways β€” and then took things up a notch by leading an engaging, hands-on introduction to CPR skills.

Inspiring the next generation, sharing life-saving knowledge, and representing GO CAPS with professionalism and heart β€” our students did all of that and more. We love seeing the ripple effect of profession-based learning in our community!

Thank you to Ms. Hull and Middle Monett Middle School for welcoming our students into your classroom! 🩺

Not all educators stand at the front of a classroom β€” and that's exactly the point. 🍎

Teacher Education students got an inside look at the world of Speech-Language Pathology, learning from Morgan Hastings and Suzanne Sloane, SLPs right here in the Monett R-1 School District.

From supporting students with communication challenges to collaborating with teachers and families, SLPs play a vital role in helping young minds grow and thrive. For several of our students, the experience went even deeper β€” after job shadowing with SLPs this year, they've chosen Speech-Language Pathology as their career pathway. That's the GO CAPS difference. πŸ’™

πŸ“ What a sweet learning experience! Agri-Business & Food Systems students recently visited Brown's Berry Farm, LLC in Miller, Missouri, where our guide, Mary Poirot-Jones, led an incredible tour through the farm's many strawberry cultivars.

Students discovered the fascinating differences between varieties β€” from flavor profiles and harvest timing to disease vulnerability and the special planting techniques used to keep crops healthy. 🌱

Of course, no farm visit is complete without a taste test! After sampling their way through the fields, students crowned the Ruby Red variety as the clear fan favorite β€” known for its irresistibly sweet flavor and early-season fruit. πŸ†

Thank you to Mary and the team at Brown's Berry Farm for sharing your passion and expertise with our students! These real-world learning experiences are what GO CAPS is all about. πŸ™Œ

πŸ’‰ Medicine & Healthcare students got hands-on experience with IV insertion, guided by Sherri Young, MSN, RN β€” a nursing instructor in the SBU Mercy College of Health Professions & Springfield Campus.

Students learned from an experienced clinical educator, then put their skills to the test on practice arms β€” building the confidence and technique they'll carry into their healthcare careers.

Experiences like this are exactly what GO CAPS is designed to provide β€” real-world skills, guided by professionals who do this work every day. Thank you, Sherri, for sharing your expertise with our students! 🩺

Mission Innovation: CAPStone Showcase β€” complete. πŸŽ“βœ¨

Families, business partners, and community members filled the room to celebrate what our GO CAPS students have been building all year. And what a celebration it was.

From hospital floors to farm fields, from elementary classrooms to emergency response β€” the impact our students made across this region is nothing short of remarkable. These weren't hypothetical projects or classroom exercises. They were real solutions to real problems, delivered to real partners who needed them.

We are so proud of every single student who shared their work with the world throughout our Mission Innovation events. You showed up. You delivered. And this community showed up right back for you. πŸ’™

Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate β€” your presence meant everything to our students.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Monett Community Church for serving as an exceptional host partner for our annual Mission Innovation CAPStone event.

By opening their doors and providing such a beautiful, welcoming facility, they helped create an elevated experience for students across every GO CAPS strand as they delivered formal presentations on their CAPStone projects. Surrounded by business partners, mentors, families, and community members, students were able to share their work in a setting that reflected the professionalism, purpose, and significance of their learning.

What made this partnership especially meaningful was the exceptional care their team provided behind the scenes. From seamlessly managing lighting and sound, to showcasing graphics throughout the building, to recording presentations for future reflection and celebration, every detail was handled with excellence.

Community partnerships like this are what make authentic, career-connected learning possible. We are deeply grateful to Monett Community Church for investing their time, talent, and space into an experience that helped students feel celebrated, confident, and prepared for what comes next.

Thank you for helping make Mission Innovation such a powerful showcase of student growth, innovation, and readiness!
