Each morning we designate 45 minutes to reading and writing ✍️

This morning K5 and first grade worked through centers that required looking at pictures and deciding what the correct spelling is. They also practiced recreating the pictures that were in front of them as a brain exercise!

2nd grade read passages and recreated them in pictures and summaries of their own.

The greatest part of all of this? Students are gaining independence and critical thinking skills at the same time!📚

Did you know 💬

The first and arguably most important step in our projects is the ✏️DESIGN PLANNING✏️. This pushes students to go beyond taking notes. We teach them in this step to think independently and follow through on their plans.

While students are given the subject and taught the lesson behind it, they are the ones who hold the creative freedom to decide how to represent what they’ve learned.

This may look like:
📌Creating a board game from their imagination to practice math facts
📌Building rocket models to detail how they’ve changed throughout history and with new technology
📌Producing a weather forecast video to present the facts they’ve learned in science class
📌Constructing a setting for a story they’re writing in English

The options are endless, and we encourage students to explore them. 🔍
