🎉 Welcome Day 2026 was a roaring success! We loved welcoming our newest students to campus and kicking off an exciting year ahead. From meeting professors and exploring campus to hanging out with the Nittany Lion, it was a day full of new faces, fun, and Penn State spirit! 🦁💙🤍

Today, we welcomed the Beaver-Lawrence Farm Bureau to campus to learn about the Keystone Animal Diagnostic Center, operated by Penn State’s College of Agricultural Sciences. The group toured the facility on the lower floor of the Michael Baker Building.

Ernest Hovingh, director of the animal diagnostic laboratory, described the lab’s testing services, the accreditation process needed to expand testing, and plans to build a necropsy lab to further support area farmers and veterinarians. He also highlighted learning opportunities for Penn State Beaver students, including connections to potential careers.

The bookstore pop-up will be open on the first floor of the Student Union Building from noon until 4 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday for Welcome Day!

The pop-up will also be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 24 through Aug. 26 and from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Aug. 27 and Aug. 28.

After the first week of classes, the bookstore will have regular pop-up hours from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesdays and Fridays during the Fall 2026 semester. Please remember that the campus pop-up store is cashless.

The neuropsychology lab at Penn State Beaver is not only providing a free community service, it's also giving our students important, hands-on experience working in a lab.

Dr. Amy Camodeca, associate professor of psychology and a clinical neuropsychologist, runs the lab and mentors students to prepare them for their future careers.

Phoenix McCafferty, a third-year psychology student said, “When you think of that classic mentorship, it’s Dr. Camodeca. I feel like I’m very well prepared for grad school. I would not be where I am without starting at that lab.”

The neuropsychology lab at Penn State Beaver is providing testing for youth in the community, and it serves as a place where psychology students gain valuable hands-on learning, preparing them for their futures.

There’s still time to join us for the annual Alumni Society Golf Outing on Aug. 31 at Seven Oaks! This event is a favorite among our alumni and friends in the community. It’s a fun day of golf on a beautiful course with plenty of food and beverages. And all proceeds support Penn State Beaver students.

It was wonderful to see our students starting to return yesterday and get settled into their home for the new academic year. We have less than a week until classes begin!

Move-in Day for our early arrival students is underway! Staff and student leaders are helping with check-in and moving students to their rooms in Harmony Hall.

Today is the start of a busy week as more students will continue to arrive and we prepare for Welcome Day for our first-year students on Saturday.

The annual Penn State Beaver Alumni Society golf outing is being held Monday, Aug. 31 at Seven Oaks Country Club. The day, which includes food and beverages, will begin with check-in at 8 a.m. and a shotgun start at 9 a.m. It's $175 per player or $600 for a foursome.

Proceeds benefit Penn State Beaver students.
