Friday, we honored our eight hard-working Heavy Metal Summer Experience campers with a graduation ceremony to celebrate their week of hands-on learning here at the QC Electrical Training Center.⚡🎓

All eight HMSE campers showed excellent drive and problem-solving skills while assembling two solar charging arrays — including in EV carport — soldering together bluetooth speakers, and learning several other aspects of the trade.

We're so proud of our HMSE '26 graduates and can't wait to see what the future holds for them!

It's been an incredible week hosting our Heavy Metal Summer Experience camp, giving eight local youths a hands-on introduction to the electrical trade!

This is our second year hosting an HMSE camp. We're extremely proud to be involved in this national initiative to introduce young people to the amazing career opportunities in the union trades — free of cost!

This year, our HMSE campers learned basic wiring and soldering skills by building a Bluetooth speaker. Their big project was assembling a solar carport. Part of that project had campers wiring in solar panels from Skyjack lifts, which they learned how to safely operate themselves this week!

Today our HMSE camp comes to a close with a Graduation Ceremony with family and friends invited. 🎓

It's such an honor to host these camps — and they work as intended: two of the 11 students who participated last year have been accepted into the QC Electrical Training Center’s apprenticeship program, and two more have applied and qualified. ⚡💪

This week we celebrate the 101st anniversary of IBEW Local Union 145! 🥳

IBEW Local Union 145 was chartered on April 27, 1925, when Rock Island's Local 485 (chartered in 1913) and Davenport's Local 635 (chartered in 1917) combined forces. ⚡💪

Since then, the brothers and sisters of IBEW Local Union 145 have wired much of the greater Quad City community. We look forward to another 101 years of lighting the QCA! ⚡🔌💡
