For Hispanic Heritage Month, Miss Dunker’s 5th grade class have been learning about the Hispanic community. They learned about the distinctions between Hispanic, Latino/a, and Spanish-speaking.

Other ways they celebrated and learned together:

CLASS MURAL: Students colored individual squares to quilt together a community mural, along with flags from the 21 Spanish-speaking countries.

GUEST READ-ALOUDS: Special guest staff members visited to share Spanish storybooks.

SWEET TREATS: Everyone loved sampling different traditional Mexican candies.

LOOK AHEAD: At the end of the month, students will present a piece of their own background on “Share My Culture Day.”
