On September 21 at 5:00 pm, WQPT will be showing the documentary My Ascension at Riverfront Hall on WIU's Quad Cities campus. The film will be followed by a panel discussion by professionals in the field of mental health.

My Ascension chronicles the story of Emma Benoit, a 16-year-old Dutchtown High School varsity cheerleader who was paralyzed by a su***de attempt, which propelled her on a mission to use her painful experience to help others find hope and stay alive.

For those who can't make the screening in person, a virtual option will be available. The link can be found at https://wqpt.org/awareness/

For those struggling with suicidal ideation, the Su***de and Crisis Lifeline is there to help, just call or text 988.

The most important part of being a counselor-in-training is the *training* part-- we're so proud of our students for attending the three hour Safe Space Training. As counselors, it's vital to be educated on LGBTQ+ issues so that we can provide a secure and supportive environment for all clients.

Special thanks to Viminda Shafer for leading such a great workshop!
