Women's History Month at Black Hawk College A celebration of women and women's history! Join us for campus events during the month of March, and follow to celebrate women making history all year long!

History:

Women's History Month at Black Hawk College was initiated in 2008 by request of a student. This student, Quinn Bilyeu, had a great idea: create a collaborative tribute to Judy Chicago's "The Dinner Party". Quinn and several BHC students and faculty, including Tina Davidson Arnold, Denise Berry Gipe, Mike Seevens, Alisa Vickrey, Liz White, Melissa Hebert-Johnson and Pat Beitel, made the p

roject happen. The group called themselves the BHC Herstorians. The Herstorians' "Tribute" was displayed in the halls of BHC and at the 2008 Venus Envy Exhibit. From there a tradition was born. Every March since 2008, faculty, staff, and students at BHC hold brown bag discussions, lectures, and movie viewings to celebrate women and women's history. Since 2011 the project has had a budget, and we have been able to provide an honorarium for guest speakers. Please join us each March for our Women's History Month activities. They will prove to be informative, inspiring, and engaging.
