I can’t sleep through the guilt some nights.
A few years back I was driving with my little sister when a truck came and drove through the front of our car. I remember reaching my arm to try and stop any damage impact to my sisters face. The accident left my hand bent permanently but the real issue and real damage was what it did to my sister. Since then she has been struggling with anorexia nervoua. An eating disorder that often ends up being fatal. It is a silent killer.. it’s sad as she used to be a bright spirited happy girl. And now she counts her whole life in calories. To the point where she no longer has any of her friends and us as family we can’t even talk about eating around her or tell her that she can eat or mention the word lbs or to eat some food. Mentioning any of these things will cause her to go ballistic and irrational like something else is controlling her. We can see there’s very little nutrients getting to her and she seems to be on a very critical condition currently. We’ve tried having the hospital help her . They don’t. They push some fluids and send her home. We have tried inpatient special groups for it and all that happens is she gets to a healthy weight but as soon as she’s let out she goes back to starving herself and puking out all the foods she eats. It’s been years now and it feels like my sister is just a shadow. I’m struggling to not feel the guilt this is my fault since I was the one driving that day. The main thing is that my sister overcomes anorexia and one day lives to be herself again free from this monster.
