👃💚 Yucky Noses & What to Watch For! 💚👃
We know this time of year can bring lots of runny, stuffy, and yucky little noses! 🤧 While a little clear mucus can be completely normal, we want to remind families to keep an eye on changes in your child’s symptoms.
Here are a few things to watch for:
💧 Clear: Often associated with a runny nose, allergies, or the beginning of a cold.
💛 Yellow: Can happen as the body fights off a cold or infection. Keep an eye on how your child is feeling overall.
💚 Green: Green mucus can occur during a cold, but if it continues for several days or your child is also feeling unwell, it may be worth checking with your healthcare provider.
❤️ Red/Bloody: A small amount can happen from irritation or frequent nose wiping. If there is frequent or significant bleeding, check with your child’s healthcare provider.
🖤 Black: This is uncommon and should be discussed with a healthcare provider.
🤎 Brown: Can sometimes be old blood, dirt, or other debris. Keep an eye on it if it continues.
Most importantly, watch the whole child—not just the color of their nose! If your little one has a fever, is unusually tired, having trouble breathing, not eating/drinking normally, or just doesn't seem like themselves, please keep them home and reach out to your healthcare provider. ❤️
And remember… lots of tissues, extra handwashing, and plenty of cuddles! 🥰🧻
We appreciate everyone helping us keep our little ones healthy and happy! 💚
