NEW IMAGE RELEASED IN 52-YEAR-OLD MISSING CHILD CASE
Joseph Hurtado was just 20 months old when he disappeared from El Paso, Texas. More than five decades later, his family is still searching for answers.

Now, NCMEC and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office are releasing a new age-progressed image showing what Joseph may look like today at age 53.

Joseph’s younger sister, Marie, was born years after he disappeared but has spent decades searching for the brother she never had the chance to know.

“Our family has spent years searching for answers, but we have never lost hope,” Marie said. “We love and miss our brother more than words can express, and we will continue searching for him for as long as it takes. We’re asking the public to take one more look at his case and share any information you may have. Even the smallest detail could be the one that changes everything.”

Joseph disappeared Sept. 9, 1974, while playing outside his grandmother’s home. Despite extensive searches, he was never found.

At the time, Joseph had club feet and wore brown orthopedic shoes. He also had a birthmark near his right kidney.

🚨 A CHILD IS NOT A CURRENCY. A CHILD IS NOT A PAYMENT.

Jaimee Lee Carden of Morenci, MI was sentenced to 12½–40 years in prison after pleading no contest to first-degree child abuse, along with 5–10 years for assault with intent to do great bodily harm and 16 months–2 years for fleeing police.

According to prosecutors and court testimony reported by The Daily Telegram, Carden knowingly continued allowing registered s*x offenders to have access to her children—even after being warned repeatedly about them.

One of the men gave Carden money and a car, and prosecutors told the court that she put her daughter in situations with s*xual predators because she was receiving money, vehicles, and whatever she needed to feed her drug habit.

⚠️ Legally, Carden was convicted and sentenced for child abuse and assault—not a criminal charge titled “SEX TRAFFICKING.” But the conduct described in court is s*xual exploitation and trafficking of a child for material benefit.

When a child is knowingly placed in the hands of s*xual predators in exchange for money, property, or other benefits, we must recognize the seriousness of that exploitation.

💔 Children are not commodities.
💔 Children are not bargaining chips.
💔 Addiction does not excuse exploiting a child.
