"Good morning and Happy Devo Monday! Ezekiel 36:26 refers to God's promise to restore Israel, while reminding them and us that outer changes mean nothing without inner transformation.

This summer, I got hired for another side job to do w**ding for my friend's environmental company. Weeding is a lot of work, whether it be done by hand or with a w**d wacker. What makes w**ding tough work is consistently having good posture and using proper techniques to prevent the w**ds from growing back easily. The fact is, w**ding is not a quick and easy job.

Sin is like w**ds. It grows quickly and getting to the root of it is extremely difficult. We are all broken people in need of a Savior who can restore our hearts. God is the gardener in our hearts. God will pull the w**ds (sin) out of our hearts so our hearts can have more room for Him. While I spent some time with God in prayer recently, I thought about my w**ding job and God reminded me that the work He does in our hearts takes a lot of time. It's not that God is slow; He is aiming for deep, lasting transformation. In your struggle with sin, surrender yourself and your sin, and let God take care of the sin and brokenness in your heart. You are His masterpiece that He is still molding more and more into His likeness every day. Submit to Him.

Father, thank you for being the gardener in our hearts. Sin is a struggle for us daily. Thank you for loving us so much that you want to work on our hearts and not allow us to struggle alone. Pull the w**ds out of our hearts that affect our relationship with you. Never stop working in us, Lord. Remind us daily of the amazing works you are doing through my fellow brothers, sisters, and I. You're an amazing Father. Amen."

Meet the Teacher: featuring our new Kindergarten Teacher, Mrs. Wendt!

1. How long have you been teaching?

My love for teaching began in high school, when I volunteered as an elementary classroom helper and began teaching Sunday school. Since then, I have had the opportunity to teach preschool, prekindergarten, and most recently 4th and 5th grade Math and Science. I am excited to continue my teaching journey in Kindergarten this year at TKA!

2. What are your hobbies?

Outside of the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my family, watching sports, reading, volunteering with local animal rescues, and spending as much time as I can at the beach!

3. What is your favorite Bible verse?

Two of my favorite Bible verses are Philippians 4:13 and Ephesians 2:10. They remind me to lean on God for strength, trust that He has a purpose for where He has placed me, and value the people He places along my path. As a teacher, I hope to reflect that same faith, love, and encouragement to my students each day.

4. What is your favorite part about being a teacher?

My favorite part of being a teacher is building relationships with my students and their families. I love encouraging my students to believe in themselves, helping them discover their God-given gifts, and watching their confidence grow as they learn new skills. My goal each school year is to create a classroom where each child feels loved, valued, and excited to learn.

5. Is there anything else you'd like to share with the TKA community?

I am so thankful for the opportunity to be part of the TKA community and especially excited to be teaching Kindergarten this year! I look forward to partnering with families as we help the students grow academically, socially, and in their faith. I am excited to see all that God has in store for everyone this year!

Meet the Teacher: featuring our new Fourth Grade Teacher, Mrs. Carrion!

1. How long have you been teaching?

I’ve been teaching for more than half my life! My journey started as a youth leader when I was 14 years old, which led me to develop a passion for teaching. Many years later I became a Pre-K teacher, and a youth pastor, and now a 4th-grade teacher!

2. What are your hobbies?

When I’m not in the classroom, you can find me sipping coffee while diving into a good book, or writing, which has always been one of my greatest passions!

3. What is your favorite Bible verse?

A few verses that are especially close to my heart are 2 Corinthians 12:9, 1 Timothy 4:12, and Esther 4:14, which reminds me that I was created "for such a time as this." These verses have carried me through some of my toughest seasons.

4. What is your favorite part about being a teacher?

My favorite part about being a teacher is watching the kiddos realize their full potential. The classroom is truly where I belong, and nothing beats the joy of guiding students as they grow academically, spiritually, and personally every day. Not only are they our future leaders but they are our today and being able to plant a seed in their learning journey is such a fulfilling experience and joy!

5. Is there anything else you'd like to share with the TKA community?

I am so grateful and excited to be a part of the TKA family! I look forward to partnering with parents, supporting our students, and walking alongside this wonderful community in faith and learning this year!

"Good morning and Happy Devo Monday! Proverbs 16:9 states that man makes their plans, but it's the Lord who directs their steps.

I went to the beach last week to enjoy a rest day. Growing up, I always loved going into the ocean and enjoying the waves. Whenever I'd go with friends, we'd always try to go as far as we can without getting whistled at by the lifeguards. Some beaches use green flags to help visitors understand where the safe zone is for the ocean. The lifeguards will blow their whistle if they see people go too far into the ocean, or are outside of the green flag area.

Our walk with God is similar. God establishes our steps and guides us into a spiritual safe zone where we will feel His peace in us, even when hardships come our way. As humans, we have our own desires and will be tempted to step outside of the path and zone God has established for us. We are at war with our flesh daily, so it can be easier said than done. The Holy Spirit will convict us when we are stepping outside of what God has designed for our path. Like the green flags at the beach, we must stay within the safe zone that God has set for us and let His peace dwell in us. We like to make our own plans and ideas for how we want life to go, but God knows better than we do. May we allow the Lord to establish our steps and stay within His will rather than our own.

Lord, thank you for always establishing our steps, even when we lose our way sometimes. May we be directed by your wisdom and compassion in everything we do. May our desires come to line up with yours. Help us to seek you for wisdom rather than leaning on our own limited wisdom. We are in awe of your infinite wisdom. To you be the glory. Amen."

"Good morning and Happy Devo Monday! Hebrews 3:1-6 states how Jesus has been found worthy of greater honor than Moses.

Throughout history, there have been many books, documentaries, podcasts, and docuseries made about historical figures, cultural figures, and celebrities; they usually walk us through the life of that said person: when they were born, what they do or did with their lives, how they impact or impacted our world, and when they died. I cannot speak for all podcasts, documentaries, docuseries, or books, but I noticed that when you listen, watch, or read through them, the good and positive qualities about those people is what the creators usually focus on. Especially when it's an autobiography, it can be uncomfortable for people to share about their own flaws. Hebrews 3:2 states Moses was "faithful in all God's house", but Exodus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy mention some terrible things Moses did that were not pleasing to the Lord. What stands out to me is God still calls Moses "faithful", even though he did those terrible things.

We struggle with our flaws everyday and feel as if we are not faithful to God. When you follow the Lord Jesus and submit to Him daily, you are faithful to Him. Even when you feel your sins are too great and you just keep messing up over and over again, God can still use you. God used so many flawed people like David, Paul, Peter, and so on. This tells me that Jesus deserves all the glory. He is worthy of our praise. God will still use you, even with your flaws. Maybe you're scared to do something God is calling you to do. Maybe there is something holding you back. Don't let it. Let God use you and see the wonders He will do through you, like He has done through Moses. Like Hebrews 3:5-6 says, all our confidence and hope come from Jesus. Jesus is the GOAT, the greatest of all time.

Father God, thank you for being the greatest. You are worthy. You deserve all the glory. Please use my fellow brothers, sisters, and I to do the work that you desire through us. You have done so many wonders, and your work doesn't stop here. Help us when we struggle with our flaws, and to not let anything hold us back. Thank you for being so faithful, and acknowledging the love we have for you. May you be given all the glory and all the honor forever and ever. Amen."
