River Valley HS & Mohave HS Improve Student Attendance, Outperform State Average; Lead The Way In Mohave County!

The State of Arizona defines "Chronic Absenteeism" as "nine absences in a semester or 18 absences in a year; equivalent to about 10% of the school year."

The state average rate of Chronic Absenteeism is 37%. AZ State Superintendent Tom Horne recently described this situation as "catastrophic."

Fortunately, as the flagship school system in Mohave County, CRUHSD is leading the way in addressing this issue. Thanks to our innovative reforms our school's absenteeism rates have fallen far below the state average and are rapidly trending in the right direction.

CRUHSD Superintendent Dr. Richard's remarks:

"I talk to people in our community all of the time and they always say how much our schools just continue to keep winning in everything these past few years and people say they have never seen anything like it. With the exception of the Mohave Elementary School District, no other schools in our community have the success data in attendance and in academics that we have. We are even outperforming Mohave College in most metrics. No one else is innovating like we are. All of this is just great for kids and it is a credit to the students, our parents, and to the hard work of all of our educators and the positive relationships they build every day."
