Last but certainly not least, our 2nd year, Jake Lewis!

Originally from Tulare, CA, I am entering my second year at MJC and working on the Swine Unit. I am majoring in Animal Science and Agriculture Business. Growing up around livestock and being involved in the swine industry has helped me develop a passion for pigs. I plan to continue to follow my dreams to find my place within the swine industry. This year, my goal is to help make sure the Swine Unit runs smoothly and that all daily tasks and responsibilities are completed and taken care of. Be sure to come see us this winter to look at babies!

Keeping intern intros rolling! Next up is Gauge!

Hello, my name is Gauge Goehring, and I am super excited to be a first-year intern at the swine unit this year! I am an animal science major, and I am looking forward to expanding my knowledge of the swine industry, meeting new people, and learning new techniques and skills at the unit. My goal this year is to get faster at castration and learn how to collect boars and extend semen. After MJC, I plan on attending either Cal Poly San Luis Obispo or Fresno State to continue my education in the hopes of becoming an agricultural educator.

Back again with another intern intro! Welcome Manny!

Hello, my name is Manny Gomez, and I am a first-year intern on the swine unit. During my time at MJC, I hope to expand my knowledge of the swine industry, build meaningful relationships, and become actively involved in the industry. After graduating from MJC, I plan to attend Oklahoma State University to pursue a degree in Agricultural Business. Ultimately, I hope to return to California and pursue a career as a Pest Control Advisor.

Intern intros to get the weekend started! Here’s Austin Ferry!

Coming from Placerville, I am one of our first-year swine unit interns, majoring in Animal Science. During my time here at MJC, I am looking forward to making new connections and expanding my knowledge in all livestock industries. Looking towards the future, I plan on transferring to a 4-year university and eventually running my own show pig operation or going into livestock nutrition. I can’t wait to see what the MJC West Campus internship has in store for me!
