We just wrapped up an incredible two-part tour focused on our local manufacturing sector, and yesterday was SO GREAT!

Last week, we kicked things off by taking Modesto City Schools CTE educators and site counselors on industry site tours at Pacific Southwest Container, Fastenal Company, and GALLO so they could see the manufacturing industry in action.

Yesterday, we flipped the script and brought our local community and manufacturing leaders directly into several Modesto City Schools classrooms! Our guests got to see our rigorous Career Technical Education (CTE) programs in action at Beyer, Downey, and Johansen High Schools.

One of the highlights from the last two weeks was watching our educators and local business leaders brainstorm ways to partner up and build a strong talent pipeline for our students as we get ready for the 26-27 school year. This is exactly what the Modesto City Schools "Map Your Mission" initiative is all about—helping students discover and prepare for their future post high school.

We could not do this without the incredible support of our community. A GINORMOUS thank you to the organizations who devoted their time to learning, asking great questions, and investing in students' futures:

Stanislaus Food Products, Sonoco, Modesto Junior College, Stanislaus State, Stanislaus 2030, Modesto Irrigation District, DeHart Technical School, Stanislaus Community Foundation, Fastenal Company, VOLT Institute, GALLO, BEAM Circular

Today, SPIE took educators, counselors, and Career Navigators on a full-day tour for an in-depth look at training and career opportunities within .psc , , and .

Industry tours are a catalyst to a thriving local economy. For education, they provide teachers and counselors with real-world insights, ensuring the curriculum stays relevant to the modern workforce. For industry, it’s a chance to open the doors to future talent and show students, through their mentors, that high-quality careers are available right here in our backyard.

When educators see the technology and skills in action, they can better guide students toward meaningful pathways that lead straight from the classroom to a career.

We want to extend our sincerest appreciation to our hosts today. Your time, transparency, and dedication to our community are what make these connections possible:

• Pacific Southwest Container
• Fastenal
• GALLO

Last week 5th graders at Keyes Elementary School had a special visit from State Assemblyman Juan Alanis , ahead of their field trip to the California State Capitol this week!

Students are getting a firsthand look at how state government works and the many careers that make it possible.

This field trip is designed to help students see themselves as future leaders and understand the education and career pathways that can get them there.

Huge thank you to our education partner, Annisa Watson, and her team of dedicated teachers at Keyes Elementary School who applied for SPIE’s Career Education Grant which helped to make this experience possible for their students.

And thank you, Assemblyman Alanis, for taking the time to speak with the students and for supporting local career education and civic learning!
