Weโre incredibly proud to recognize former West Campus Beef Unit intern Amanda Osmundson, who was recently featured in AGDaily as a 2025 American Star Finalist in Agricultural Placement. Growing up on her familyโs ranch in Oakdale, Amanda has built an impressive foundation in beef production and leadership through FFA. Her journey from hands-on ranch work to pursuing Animal Science at Kansas State University showcases her dedication to advancing the beef industry. During her time with us, Amanda stood out for her strong work ethic, leadership, and passion for learning. Weโre excited to see how she continues to grow and make an impact in the agricultural community!

Over the past few days, our program had the opportunity to welcome nine groups of visiting Japanese students to both East and West Campus! ๐ฏ๐ตโจ On West Campus, they toured our animal units and learned about the daily operations that keep each one running. Meanwhile, on East Campus, students got creative making succulent bowls โ heartfelt gifts for their host families as a gesture of appreciation. ๐ฟ๐ It was an incredible cultural exchange and a great showcase of what our program has to offer!

On October 6th, students in AGM 235 (Irrigation and Drainage) had the opportunity to tour the Modesto Irrigation District (MID) Regulating Reservoir and Lateral 3. They observed firsthand how water travels from the main canal to the farm through a system of long-crested weirs and SCADA-controlled gates.
The regulating reservoir allows MID to quickly adjust water flows to meet downstream demands while capturing unregulated inflows for more efficient and beneficial use. A great hands-on experience connecting classroom learning to real-world water management! ๐ง
