LearningQuest - Stanislaus Literacy Centers

LearningQuest - Stanislaus Literacy Centers Welcome to LearningQuest! We are a literacy Nonprofit located in the heart of Downtown Modesto.

What initially was created to help local cannery workers, has blossomed into a community-based organization offering free assistance in:

High School Equivalency (HSE): Classes offered in both English & Spanish to prepare adult students for the five HiSET exams (math, science, social studies, reading, writing) required to obtain the High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma, commonly known as GED. Jai

l Education: Whether they finish while serving their time or after being released, LearningQuest is there to get them the education they need to pass the High School Equivalency test. Inmates send a request form to the HSE instructor for assessment to enroll in literacy tutoring or the HSE program. English as a Second Language (ESL): Adults will work to improve their English listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills through activities and tailored lessons for each level. Family Literacy: Include a number of services including Parent and Child Time (PACT) classes and KidsClub. PACT encourages parents and children to learn through activities designed to promote family connection and peer collaboration with other parents. KidsClub is for students, who are enrolled in our ESL program, can bring their children (ages 3-12 years old) to our program while they are attending their classes. Adult Literacy: One-on-one tutoring is provided for adult learners wanting to improve their reading and writing skills. Reading and writing skills will be assessed to find what level to begin tutoring. Staff work with students to choose life, career, family, and social goals to work toward. College & Career Services: Transition Specialists in the College and Career Center help current adult students and HSE graduates fulfill their college and career goals. KidsQuest: In-person one-on-one tutoring sessions for children 2nd - 6th grade diagnosed with dyslexia or other language disorders.
