Happy pi day! I made little pies/homemade Pop tarts and shamrock cookies that still need icing, and this may be the last big baking day for a while as I keep up with builders, signmakers, prospective artists, and lots of other details with my new gallery chugging right along towards the finish line with still an unknown date to open! Whew, long sentence, but excitement sometimes takes over. Hope you’ll follow along on the journey. ☘️☘️❤️❤️🎨🎨

Pies, pies, all around London- mostly savory and sampled a couple! Got a tour of the little pie room at the Rosewood hotel, where we stopped for yummy drinks and chicken pie. They sell them out the front window for “takeaway”

I made a very involved lemon raspberry crostata (Italian tart)yesterday which tasted great and looked beautiful before slicing, but was a little tough to get out of the pan, and unfortunately I didn’t get a photo of it. So instead, I’ll show you what I’m working on. If you’ve had apple cider caramels before you know that you can’t resist making them when you have apple cider in the house. Enjoy your family and holiday baking, and share photos of your successes!

I finally had a good excuse to use my heirloom Virginia apples from Berryville- mixed with some Granny Smiths and pink ladies for texture and interest…and a new crust recipe using a bit of rye flour for this slab pie! If you’re signed up for the after church lunch to celebrate our new pastor, you’ll get to sample it!

Finally reunited my pie series to its original foursome where it belongs, in my kitchen. Now ready to tackle new painting projects, and of course share the love of pie.

Finally, after months of waiting, my personal supply chain issue is resolved and a new oven is installed and operational! The old non-working stacked micro/oven unit is replaced by a double, side opening Bosch, with lots of options, including a proofing function. Stay tuned for butternut squash everything...and yes, you can swap it for pumpkin in every case. (internet scone recipe tip: blot as much liquid as you can from the squash/pumpkin, resulting in flakier scones.) Now if I could just get my elbow tendinosis to heal so I can "stir it up"!
