Eligible school-age children can receive a one-time payment of $120 per child in grocery benefits during the summer through the Alabama SUN Bucks program. SUN Bucks benefits are in the form of a pre-loaded card with a one-time $120 benefit for the summer that families can use to purchase groceries. Visit https://alabama-sunbucks.com/ for details.

The Mobile County Commission is launching its America 250 celebration with a Youth Civic Reflection Contest, inviting Mobile County students to answer the question: β250 Years Later, What Does Freedom Mean to You Today?β
The contest is open to Mobile County students enrolled in grades K-12. Students may submit a photo or short reel with a 250-word caption or an original piece of artwork. Entries should be sent to [email protected].
Entries will be accepted June 1-22, with winners notified June 25 and invited to present their submissions at Government Plaza. The contest is the first of several events planned by the Mobile County Commission as part of the nationwide America 250 commemoration in 2026.
