Visual arts at McT is a wide open studio.
Our Yellow Jackets can explore everything from ceramics and drawing to advanced and AP-level visual arts.
We believe every student is created with purpose—and our role is to make sure those purposes have room to be discovered, shaped, and grown through the opportunities they experience in our halls.

Recently, a group of McGill-Toolen Catholic originals gathered for lunch at Felix's to celebrate a meaningful milestone—welcoming Fr. Shields as the most recent retiree into this remarkable group.
Each leader pictured here has left a lasting mark on generations of Yellow Jackets. Their leadership, presence, and dedication continue to define McT today.

Not every student learns the same way.
At McGill-Toolen Catholic, helping students reach their potential means meeting them where they are and challenging them to grow. That's why our curriculum includes College Prep I, College Prep II, Honors, and Advanced Placement coursework. More importantly, students aren't limited to a single placement.
Success is about helping our Jackets grow in knowledge, confidence, and character. Want to learn more? Reach out through the inquiry form: https://www.mcgill-toolen.org/inquire/.

HUGE Jacket roar for Mrs. Rene McElroy! Recently, she received the Spirit of Special Olympics Alabama Award.
Rene has spent her career opening doors and creating opportunities for athletes of all abilities. In fact, in her very first year at McGill-Toolen Catholic, she launched a brand-new program for our Annunciation students that sent athletes to State Games.
Her influence reaches a multitude of athletes, families, and programs. This honor is a reflection of what so many already know: Rene McElroy doesn’t just support the mission of Mobile Area Special Olympics—she lives it every day.

From then to now.
For 130 years, Yellow Jackets have built a legacy of faith, knowledge, and strength at McGill-Toolen Catholic.
The buildings may have changed, but the mission remains the same. It's a legacy worth celebrating—and one every Yellow Jacket can be proud to be part of.

Our greatest hope for every Yellow Jacket is to leave a lasting legacy.
Mark J. Tenhundfeld has done just that—not once, but twice—as both a McGill-Toolen alumnus and former faculty member. Now, he is continuing to make the Yellow Jacket family proud beyond our campus.
Mr. Tenhundfeld recently published State of Segregation, a work that examines Alabama's civil rights history through the landmark court cases that helped shape the fight for justice.
And here's the exciting part: he'll be signing copies this Saturday from 1-3 p.m. at Page & Palette!
Join us in celebrating a member of the Yellow Jacket family whose passion for education and history continues to make an impact far beyond our hallways.

Even in the summer, our Jackets make us proud.
Annunciation students Brayden Hicks '26, Anya MacRae '27, and Noel Powers '26 were selected to compete in the Special Olympics State Games at Troy University this past weekend!
And if that wasn't enough to make us proud, they came home with plenty of hardware. Hicks earned gold medals in the 100m Run, Javelin, and 4x100 Relay. MacRae brought home gold in Bocce, while Powers earned gold in Javelin and placed 4th in the 100m Run.
The determination, sportsmanship, and joy these students bring to everything they do remind us why it is so great to be a Yellow Jacket.

Huge shoutout to our Yellow Jackets who recently gave up their Saturday morning to compete in the Math Contest!
Students' commitment to academic excellence is one of the many things that makes McGill-Toolen Catholic special. Even more impressive, ten Yellow Jackets were recognized as top scorers across the Comprehensive, Geometry, and Algebra categories!
