The Feast of Corpus Christi, also known as the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, is a Catholic celebration of the real presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist—and thus a sacred reminder that, in every Mass, Jesus’ one sacrifice of Calvary is sacramentally made present and offered anew for “the forgiveness of the sins we daily commit” (CCC 1366). Today, our parish celebrated with a Eucharistic procession as a public act of worship in which the Blessed Sacrament was carried in a monstrance and incensed through the streets of our parish. Parishioners followed, singing hymns and praying.

This tradition symbolizes the Church’s mission to carry Christ to the world (Matt. 28:18-20) and publicly professes the Catholic belief in the real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist—safeguarding the teaching of Jesus himself (John 6:53-58; Matt. 26:26-28).

Thank you to the many parishioners who participated in the procession and to everyone who helped plan and carry it out. We are especially grateful to the St. Mary's Knights of Columbus for their support and assistance.

Thank you to Shane Rice Photography for our beautiful photographs.

As of 8:00 am this morning, we are planning to have the Corpus Christi Procession as planned. However, a call may be made at the end of the 9:30 am mass if the weather changes drastically from the forecast at this time.

If rain prevents us from having our procession through the midtown neighborhood around our parish, we will still have Eucharistic Adoration following the 9:30 am mass.

First Sunday Coffee and Donuts will still be held in the Sisters of Mercy Building following either event.
