Ms. Erwin’s 4th grade Science class turned everyday cardboard tubes, plastic bottles, and cereal boxes into epic marble runs! It took incredible teamwork and engineering to transform these recycled materials into gravity-defying tracks. They are almost done and can't wait for final testing! The 4th graders in Ms. Sigler’s room are becoming the “experts” on their assigned NFL teams! Each student will explore their team’s history, city, stadium, identity, championships, famous players, current stars, and the 2025–26 season while learning to find reliable information, take notes in their own words, and organize their research.

But this project is about more than football! Throughout the year, we’ll connect our NFL teams to research, informational writing, data, science, problem-solving, teamwork, and presentation skills.

Students will take their research from “What did I find?” → “What does it mean?” → “How can I explain it?” as they turn notes into paragraphs and prepare their team presentations.

Which team will rise to the top and which student will become our ultimate Super Bowl winner?

Let the research, learning, and football fun begin!

A big THANK YOU to Andre King, a member of the MCPSS Cybersecurity Team, for spending time with our students and sharing such important lessons about internet safety!
Our students learned about digital footprints and the important reminder that what you post online doesn’t necessarily disappear just because you delete it.
They also learned some important ways to stay safe online:
🔹 Avoid using your first and last name as a username.
🔹 Be mindful of who you are talking to when playing online games—someone may not be who they say they are.
🔹 Never share personal information with people you meet online.
🔹 Think before you post, click, or share!

What an incredible honor to have our Mrs. Evans recognized by Mobile Bay Parents for the exceptional job that she does everyday! Congratulations Mrs. Evans and very well deserved!

Mrs. Anna Evans, a third-grade teacher at Dawes Elementary, is creating a classroom where students feel safe, supported, curious, and confident.

She believes mistakes are opportunities to grow, and that kids may not remember every lesson, but they’ll remember how their teacher made them feel.
