Empowered — that’s how Aisha Mohammed describes the start of her medical school journey.

At Morehouse School of Medicine, she’s joined a mission-driven community where becoming a doctor is about more than medicine — it’s about purpose.

As part of our spotlight series introducing the MD Class of 2029, we’re proud to share the voices behind the future physicians.

For Aisha, becoming a physician means standing in the gap for those whose voices often go unheard. She hopes to address healthcare access differentials, champion wellness and create lasting change in the communities she serves.

After more than a decade of perseverance, through immigration hurdles, repeated exams and two master’s degrees, Aramide Olorunfemi is finally walking into a dream that once felt out of reach.

“Every closed door, every delay and every tear has led to this breakthrough,” she shares. “Being accepted here, at Morehouse School of Medicine, with a full tuition scholarship is something I could never have imagined on my own. I am humbled because I carry the weight of others’ dreams too.”

For Aramide, medicine is a calling to serve the unheard — to be an advocate, an empath and a listener. She aims to be the kind of physician who honors stories, who leads with cultural humility and who opens doors for others still finding their way. Farah Abaza’s journey to Match Day is a testament to resilience, advocacy and purpose. As a Jordanian immigrant, she grew up witnessing the challenges of healthcare access firsthand. At Morehouse School of Medicine, she not only found a place where she could make a difference but also a community that became her family.

When her sister, an MSM alum, was diagnosed with breast cancer, she saw the power of that support firsthand. After her sister’s passing, Farah turned her grief into purpose, dedicating herself to advocacy and breaking down barriers in urologic care, especially for underserved communities and incarcerated individuals.

Now, as she prepares to match into residency, she carries her family’s legacy forward while creating her own path.
