On Tuesday evening at Innovation Portal, a committed group of community members came together to imagine the possibilities for educating Mobile’s young people. Led by MAEF’s Chief Academic Officer, Dr. Amanda Jones, the session helped the group identify the skills, mindsets, and experiences young people deserve to be well educated and on a path toward a successful future.
We look forward to building a shared vision of what’s possible with the community through many more conversations and working sessions to come.

This summer, Tiffany Pogue served as MAEF’s Research & Development Intern, supporting research, program development, grant writing, and policy work across the organization.
Throughout her internship, Tiffany worked alongside MAEF staff and community partners to learn more about the education landscape and contribute to MAEF’s efforts to create opportunities for students and strengthen education across Mobile County. A highlight of her summer was attending the National Charter Schools Conference in New Orleans, where she connected with education leaders from across the country.
As Tiffany returns to Helsinki, Finland, to complete the final year of her master’s degree in Changing Education at the University of Helsinki, we are grateful for the perspective, curiosity, and dedication she brought to MAEF. We look forward to seeing the impact she continues to make in education.

Dr. Amanda C. Jones joined MAEF in July as our Chief Academic Officer, a newly established position, during an exciting time of growth for the organization.

In her role, Dr. Jones works alongside MAEF’s leadership team to further develop our Excellent Schools initiatives, support schools and leaders within our network, and design future educational opportunities for students.

Her connection to this work began early. Dr. Jones decided in kindergarten that she wanted to become a teacher, and her love of teaching and learning has never simmered. Growing up in a small rural community shaped her passion for expanding opportunities and experiences for young people.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, watching college and professional football, relaxing by a pool, and trying nachos anytime, anywhere, and in every variety.

We are excited to have Dr. Jones helping shape the future of MAEF’s work throughout our community!

MAEF Workforce Center participants put their career knowledge to the test with a round of Career Pathway Charades!
Participants acted out different careers while their peers worked together to guess each one, creating a fun and interactive way to explore career pathways, build communication skills, and learn more about the world of work.
Sometimes career exploration looks a little like charades—and we’re here for it!

At MAEF, we believe every young person in Mobile deserves the opportunity to graduate prepared for what comes next, connected to opportunity, and on a path toward a thriving career and life. ⭐
Our Mission, Vision, and North Star reflect our commitment to working alongside students, schools, families, partners, and our community to turn that belief into reality.
Together, we’re building a stronger future for Mobile’s young people.
