Dr. Katy Phelan is a 1975 graduate of Spring Hill who is returning to SHC for Homecoming. She was a biology major while here, and then earned a doctorate in Human Genetics from the Medical College of Virginia. During her professional career, she worked as a cytogeneticist at various institutions. She ultimately described a rare genetic disorder that is now named in her honor, Phelan-McDermid syndrome, and she is considered an international expert on this disorder.

For the past month, Claire Cesarini has been helping out as a volunteer and tour assistant. Now she heads back to UAB - The University of Alabama at Birmingham to complete her degree in public health. We will miss her!
