Happy 60th Anniversary to Mobile College (now University of Mobile), December 12,1961!! So proud to be one of its 12,000 graduates!! Merry Christmas to all!!

After visiting the UM campus yesterday, I realized how thankful I am for MC. I realized not only how much I learned there, but how much of my life I left there. The Spirit led me to the 60-year display in Weaver Hall (the Administration Building in our day). Standing there I was filled with memories of all of you. The classes we had together, the campus events we planned and executed, the good times in the "Snack Shop", the decisions we made on the school colors, mascot, campus newspaper, yearbook, student government, and so many other parts of college life that few others ever get to experience. We did all of these things together as a community and, in doing so, we left part of ourselves there in this special place. I will always be thankful for your friendship and love in creating Mobile College/University of Mobile. Without us as students, there would be no Mobile College. I felt the Spirit today as I walked through the first floor of Weaver Hall at UM (Mobile College). In November 1963 we held the first Thanksgiving Feast there! You remember that we had no dining or banquet hall, so we lined the first floor hall with tables and chairs, furnished covered dishes to share, and were thankful for the fellowship and love of faculty and students being together! I remember. Do You?

I am deeply saddened to report that our friend and MC classmate (1963-64) Lawrence Patrick Thomas passed away this week. Condolences to his family.

I am honored to announce that the University of Mobile (formerly Mobile College) will recognize me with the "Alumni of the Decade Award" for the 1960s. The Award will be presented at a special Alumni Luncheon in November. Thank you UM!!

First 15 Luncheon

Homecoming Private Christian University in Alabama

Dr. Michael A. Magnoli, our 1967 classmate and 2nd President of Mobile College passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 1, 2021. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 7, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at Dauphin Way United Methodist Church, 1507 Dauphin Street, Mobile, AL 36604. Condolences to Joann and the entire Magnoli family.

Our classmate and husband of Joann Parker Magnoli, Dr. Mike Magnoli, passed away suddenly on May 1. Arrangements are incomplete at this time. I will post them when known. Condolences to Joann and their family.

I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of our MC Classmate and first student body president, Tom Strong. Tom passed away on May 28, 2020 in Tuscaloosa. See Kathy Dean's tribute article in the Fall 2020 edition of the University of Mobile TorchLight. My condolences to his family and friends.

Thanks to everyone who attended the 50th Anniversary Reception and Dinner on Friday, May 12th! We had a great time together. Also, thanks to Dr. Timothy Smith and First Lady Penney Smith for the special recognition our classmates received at the UM Graduation on Saturday, May 13th.
