Because of their hard work and dedication, Melanie presented Mr. Robert Hope with a $170,000 check for the UMS-Wright Foundation.

At the end of the meeting, the 2026-2027 executive board was announced (L to R): Patty McGill (Treasurer), Caroline Cunningham (Member-at-Large), Catherine Wynn (President-Elect), Kelsey Moody (President), Barclay McKean (Lower School Liaison), Katie Rayford (Secretary) & Julie Otts (Faculty Representative)

In 1953, Eleanor Roosevelt persuaded Congress to set aside a day to recognize teachers. Due to the overwhelming support for honoring teachers, the National Education Association successfully lobbied to turn it into a full week in 1986. Currently, National Teacher Appreciation Week is celebrated the first full week of May, with Teacher Appreciation Day typically being celebrated the Tuesday of that week.

After feedback from administrators, teachers, and parents, UMS-Wright PTA made the decision a couple years ago to shift our week long acknowledgment of appreciation for our faculty and staff to an earlier date. This year UMS-Wright faculty and staff were treated to their choice of a beverage, received a special lunch from , & given gift cards to during our week long celebration.

Thank you to these businesses for partnering with the PTA & a huge thank you to the UMS-Wright faculty and staff for all you do for our school community!
