A safer church starts with prepared people.
Today, members of Azalea City Church of Christ participated in CPR and AED training focused on responding to medical emergencies until EMS arrives. Participants practiced adult, child, and infant CPR, learned how to use an AED, and worked through emergency scenarios as a team.
We focused on high-quality CPR, communication, teamwork, and the importance of taking action when every second counts.
You never know when these skills may be needed, but being prepared can make all the difference.

In partnership with USA Health Children's & Women's Hospital, these students spent day learning CPR, choking rescue, infant care, behavior management, bleeding control, diapering, feeding, and so much more.

Beyond the hands-on skills, they gained confidence, responsibility, and knowledge that can help keep children safe.

CEMS was honored to be part of this great community event. Thank you to USA Health Children’s & Women’s Hospital and Safe Kids South Alabama for the opportunity to share CPR, choking rescue, and AED awareness with local families. Together, we’re helping build a safer community.

Hard truth for CPR Week: women are less likely to receive CPR when their heart stops outside the hospital — and their survival is worse because of it. Duke researchers looked at over 300,000 out‑of‑hospital cardiac arrests and found women were significantly less likely to get bystander CPR or a shock from an AED.

Women are less likely to get CPR when their heart stops in public, and that hesitation costs lives.
The fix isn’t more fear, it’s more *practice*.
If you feel nervous about pushing on a woman’s chest or using an AED, that’s exactly why I teach. Come get hands-on training so it feels automatic, not awkward.
