This morning I stopped by White House Fork Volunteer Fire Department to visit my friend Bill Jackson and check out some of the department’s newest additions.
They recently added PRESTAN Professional 2000 Series manikins as another resource for their CPR training. Bill and I spent some time going over the updated features and ways to incorporate the real-time feedback into their classes. I really like this technology because it gives students immediate, measurable feedback on their CPR performance—allowing them to make adjustments as they practice while giving instructors another great tool for coaching and building confidence.
The department has also added several Avive Solutions AEDs to their lifesaving equipment. Avive combines an easy-to-use AED with connected technology designed to help keep the devices monitored and ready when they’re needed—another valuable resource when responding to a sudden cardiac emergency.
As much as I enjoy seeing new training equipment and lifesaving technology, it’s the people behind it that make the difference. Volunteer firefighters give their time to train, prepare, and respond when their neighbors need them most.
Great equipment matters. Great training matters. But it’s the people willing to step up and serve who make it all work.
