💥Take part in a Dietary Supplement and Exercise Research study!

👋We need your help!

🏃‍♂️We are seeking participants between the ages of 18 and 30 years of age that perform consistent aerobic exercise at least once per week (running/jogging/rowing etc.) and have experience using a treadmill.

🌿We are studying the effects of salidroside (a component of the Rhodiola Rosea plant) supplementation on exercise performance and associated blood markers

👩‍🔬You will be required to participate in an entry screening session followed by 5 more lab visits over the course of 2 to 3 weeks.

⏰We estimate you will be required to donate about 10 hours of your time over a 2- to 3-week period.

📃You will be required to complete an informed consent form and questionnaires regarding your exercise and health history, mood state, and any supplement side effects.

🩸You will be required to donate 4 blood samples and complete two VO2 max tests and two time-to-exhaustion tests (both performed on a treadmill) throughout the course of this study.

💪You will also complete a maximal strength test and muscle fatigue/damage test for the elbow flexors (upper arm muscles).

Purpose of the Study:
🤱The purpose of the study is to evaluate the effect of fitness level on particular components of breast milk.🤱
Participants:
🍼50 breastfeeding women between the ages of 18-35 years.🍼
Testing Procedures:
👩‍🦰 Participants will be asked to report to the Human Performance Laboratory at the University of South Alabama for one testing session (~2 hours) consisting of the following:
🖍 1) Complete a brief physical activity questionnaire
🕵️‍♀️2) Complete a body composition assessment using a DXA scanner
🚴‍♂️3) Perform two fitness tests:
💥Handgrip Strength Test
💥VO2 Cycle Test (Aerobic Fitness Test)

✅ You will be required to participate in an entry session and then 4 testing sessions over 4 consecutive days.

✅ We estimate you will be required to donate about 6 hours of your time for testing plus about three weeks of supplementation with pycnogenol or a placebo.

✅ You will be required to donate 5 blood samples throughout the course of the study.

✅ You will be required to perform an exercise bout and assessments of muscle soreness, thigh circumference, and jump performance.
