WELCOME BACK JAGS!!!
The officers of Student Anthropological Society hope your return back to school and campus has been great so far! We are excited to announce our first club meeting of the Spring 2022 term, which will be interactive!
We are hosting our first SAS meeting at the Archaeology Museum on campus, located near the humanities buildings, at 3:30pm next Wednesday January 26th!
We will be playing 2 games of anthropological Kahoot, and a gift card to either Starbucks or Cookout will be prized to each winner! Masks are required, and also your latest anthro knowledge!

We also will be discussing our multiple volunteering opportunities for the Spring!
SAS has a special event in the works as well, a guest speaker, and we can’t WAIT to tell you all about it! We are so excited to see y’all soon, don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.

We are excited to announce the return of our NSF-REU summer research program, the Bioarchaeology of Bronze Age Social Systems! In Summer 2022, undergraduate students will learn to conduct hands-on research with Bronze Age human skeletal remains from the United Arab Emirates, receive mentorship from guest scientists, and engage in public outreach.
This summer’s REU program will run from May 18-July 11, 2022 at the University of South Alabama on the Gulf Coast. The application deadline is February 17.

Applications are now open for our annual Anthropology awards and scholarships! Please note that the deadline is coming up fast - THIS FRIDAY, April 12! Apply today!
1. USA Foundation Anthropology Scholarship ($750), awarded to two rising juniors or seniors, based on an application in JagSpot involving an essay on your career goals.
2. The Anthropology Student Paper Prize ($100) awarded to the best Anthropology paper. Papers are due to Amber in HUMB 34. You can use a paper you've written for a class this year (including from the fall semester) to apply!
3. The Christine Kilgore Holley Award ($100) for the best student paper on a topic related to American Indians. Papers are due Amber in HUMB 34. You can use a paper you've written for a class this year (including from the fall semester) to apply!
