๐ซโจ Our UTeach South PBI students this spring got an incredible behind-the-scenes look at Baldwin Prep Academy! We toured their brand-new facility and explored how Project Based Instruction comes to life in a career and technical education setting. From state-of-the-art classrooms to hands-on learning spaces, it was an inspiring day seeing the future of education in action. Dr. Henningโs UTeach students in Reseach Methods BLY 307, stepped outside the classroom for a walking field trip to explore real-world ecosystems for their final inquiry projects. From spotting birds and spiders to identifying invasive and native plant species, students used the natural environmentโcomplete with wetlands and a creekโas their classroom. ๐ฑ

Learning how students think is at the heart of teaching. ๐ง
In our Knowing and Learning course, students explored problem-solving and cognitive development by building Tower of Hanoi puzzles. Through this hands-on activity, they examined strategies, patterns, and how learners approach challenges.
Because understanding how students learn is just as important as what they learn.

After your Step 1 and 2 courses and the Knowing and Learning course, EDU 325, is EDU 326 Classroom Interactions. In this course you will attend a classroom individually and share a unit of activities of your own design (with support from your mentor and instructors) with students, evaluate their responses and provide feedback. In doing so, you will discover your own unique understanding of how to learn math and science and have a positive impact on others. Registration opens April 6th!
