The third grade students at Spencer Westlawn this week were reading ”The Tale of the Barnacle and the Whale”. This reading passage targeted the skill of main idea. Special guest Mr. Jacob Moore the owner and diving expert of Living Water Conservation & Scuba Inc. brought the lesson to life by bringing in baby barnacles on a piece of driftwood, live barnacles, a Blennie (algae eating fish), fossils, scuba diving equipment, and tons of other exciting resources for the students to view and interact with. He gave an awesome presentation that captivated the audience of 3rd grade students. Students also got an opportunity to experience what it was like to use scuba diving equipment. This was definitely a memorable learning experience!
