According to the Missouri STEM Report 2022–2032, demand for STEM and STEM-related jobs is growing more than 2.5x faster than the statewide average! These careers offer not only innovation and impact—but impressive paychecks too. 💵 The average STEM job earns $91,338, compared to $57,580 for all occupations.

🔹 Over 66,000 STEM job postings in 2024
🔹 12.2% projected STEM job growth through 2032
🔹 80% of STEM job openings require a bachelor’s degree or higher
🔹 Software developers, data scientists, and engineers are leading the way

Missouri STEM Initiative Awards $1,000 Grant to Westran R1 High School Woodworking Program

The Missouri STEM Initiative (MSI) has awarded a $1,000 grant to Westran Industrial Technology Instructor Allan Sharrock. Combined with a $2,500 contribution from the Westran School District, the grant will help purchase a new jointer/planer for the high school’s woodworking program.

“We are excited to support Westran’s efforts to give students hands-on learning opportunities,” said Dave Patton, MSI President/Founder. “These investments are crucial for preparing

MSI's own Dave Patton was the guest speaker at the Moberly Kiwanis Club yesterday where he shared the MSI mission and goals for the upcoming year. Thanks for having us!

David Patton shared about the work being done through the Missouri STEM initiative in Randolph County.

They are dedicated to bringing exciting, hands-on learning experiences to classrooms across the State of Missouri.

Do you know a "Rockstar" STEM student???

Just like signing days for athletes, Missouri STEM Signing Day celebrates Missouri high school seniors as they make their commitments to study a STEM field at Missouri colleges and universities. This program recognizes outstanding Missouri high school students from across the state who are inspired by science, technology, engineering and math and are dedicated to pursuing a STEM career pathway in college and beyond.

Details
STEM Signing Day Celebration on April 26, 2024

A minimum of 25 students will receive a $1,000 scholarship to go towards their college costs

Students will sign a letter of intent to pursue a STEM degree program at a Missouri post-secondary institution

Students will be recognized for their STEM achievement by state officials, business leaders, coalition members and other special guests

Eligibility & Criteria
2024 Missouri graduating high school students

Students interested in pursuing a STEM degree or certificate program at a Missouri 2-year, 4-year or technical college in the fall of 2024

Applications will be evaluated on the basis of passion for STEM learning, advancing society through STEM, high school activity involvement and scholarship.

Semifinalists will be asked to provide a 1-2 minute video on what inspires them to pursue a STEM pathway by March 1, 2024.

Application deadline is February 15, 2024. Students should apply on the scholarship platform- My Scholarship Central.
