Why Public Ed Wednesday: Principal Highlight- Kasson's Principal, Kammy Peacock, shares why she loves public education.
"West Virginia public schools truly changed my life’s path. Growing up, higher education and a professional career didn’t seem within reach. It was the teachers and the opportunities that I found in our public schools that encouraged me to dream bigger than my circumstances and believe that my future was not determined by where I began.
Those public educators saw potential in me before I saw it myself. They challenged and supported me and instilled the belief that education could open doors. Because of them, I pursued my bachelor’s degree, continued to earn my master’s degree, and eventually became a principal. My journey is proof of the outstanding impact that public education can have.
As a principal, I hope that every student who walks through the doors of a public school knows that their dreams are possible regardless of their circumstances. I believe that public schools are more than places where students learn to read and write, but are places where confidence is built, opportunities are created, and futures are transformed.
I love West Virginia public schools because they believed in me, and now I have the opportunity to believe and support the next generation. There is no greater privilege than helping children discover their true potential."
