We are looking for a collaborative, energetic leader to serve as our Development Director. Based out of Moab, Utah, this position oversees all aspects of development for CFI, including grant writing, strategic planning, donor relationship management, and fundraising. To offset the costs of program participation for schools and families, CFI has ambitious fundraising goals to support free and low-cost programming, and our Development Director will help us get there!

Welcome back to school, friends!

Today, we were able to welcome our local middle school friends back to MLH Middle School as a part of the Grand County School District clap in event.

Whether you live in Moab or across the country, we hope you have an awesome start to the year. We can’t wait to see you out on the river or in the canyons!

This could be YOU!

Join us for our annual river clean up on the Colorado River on Sunday, August 30! Canyonlands Field Institute will be partnering with Utah Fire, Forestry, and State Lands to clean up a section of the Colorado River. You'll get a free river trip, lunch, the satisfaction that comes from helping protect an area you love, and lots of fun along the way. Registration is required and attendees must be 14 or older.

Here are the details! We will:
🚐 meet at Lions Park at 8:30am on Sunday morning (8/30) to shuttle to our river put in location.
🚣spend the day on the water, helping pick up trash and clean up the river corridor.
🍜enjoy a catered lunch, prepared by our awesome commissary manager Paula and our team.
👋 return to Lions Park by approximately 4pm.

We said see you later to our last group of explorers on Friday. We aren't sure whether we crying tears of joy that it happened or tears of sadness that camp is over. 😭😂😭😂

We had a wonderful time at Explorer Base Camp this summer! Explorer Base Camp participants fished on Warner Lake, used a compass and map to find treasure, cooked their meals together, and enjoyed the much-cooler temperatures in the La Sal Mountains.

Thanks for ending your summer break with us, and we hope you have the best school year ever!

Shout out to the U.S. Forest Service-Manti-La Sal National Forest for the lovely setting and great facilities!

Lost and Found Spotlight: A 12 oz. bottle lost in the shuffle

This traveler has been kicking it the Canyonlands Field Institute warehouse for some time, and we need your help to track down its family!

Perhaps its owner had a blast on a river trip with us down the San Juan, or maybe they spent the week with their school enjoying the natural beauty of Professor Valley, or, who knows, they might have worked with us long ago and run a shuttle to Loma Boat Ramp to support a multi-day float on the Colorado. We will never know without your help.

Here's what we know:
🌸This bottle has beautiful hand-painted flowers, purple and peach in color.
💦Klean Kanteen made this sturdy and perfectly-sized drink receptacle, designed to keep your beverages cool or warm, depending on your preference.
🚣This drink container includes stickers from OARS - Whitewater Rafting and the Hawaii Islands.

Here's what we surmise:
🌳This bottle's owner is an artist and appreciates nature - especially plants that flowers.
⛰This bottle has accompanied its owner on many adventures - including an adventure with OARS, Canyonlands Field Institute and even all of the way to Hawaii. We would like to think that its owner is an adventurer and loves to explore places across the globe.

Losing a water bottle can be stressful - even heartbreaking. We know the frustration of loosing the container that is attached to so many memories. This traveler isn't just a drink holder, it is connected to someone and they probably are still wondering where they set it down. Retracing their steps, hoping one day to find it again. Finding a new water bottle isn't always easy. We hope this bottle makes it back to its person, and we appreciate your help making it happen.

Please check with your friends, family and random passersby to see if they are missing a metal, air tight companion.

Our women's trip has awesome crew members and content experts to help guide you on a magical canoe adventure through Labyrinth on the Green River.

We are grateful to be joined by Gretchen Henderson. Gretchen is a remarkable writer, artist and scholar. She writes across environmental arts, cultural histories, and integrated sciences by cross-pollinating critical and creative practices. We look forward to learning from her, and we hope you join in the adventure!
