Do you recall the deluge documented here in June 2020? (See the post below.) Since that time, we've begun the iterative process of shaping, hardscaping and vegetating the "adjacent landscape." Basins now capture and contain all of the rainwater draining from the roof of an existing home, while also pulling a percentage of the path's stormwater runoff, as well as greywater from the main and secondary dwellings on-site.
Check out the first season of growth below! Annuals, understoried with perennials, mark the first stage of healthy root development in the soil. Over the next few years, annuals will be managed to allow the perennials to predominate, all of which will be fed by greywater, rain and irrigated creek water.
