Building community through sports. ⚽️🏀🏐

As the world gathers for major sporting events, we are reminded of how sports distinctively bind us together. Over the past school year, a 6th and 7th grader demonstrated this spirit by creating and managing an after-school sports program for students in PreK4 through 3rd grade. These two middle school coaches taught the younger students the fundamentals of soccer, basketball, and volleyball. At the conclusion of the year, the coaches recognized each participant for their unique contributions to the program.

Power tools!

Drills and saws aside, woodworking engages the mind and body in powerful ways. Over the past several weeks, middle schoolers have been working on a difficult project with a huge payout: cigar-box slide guitars! After careful measuring, sawing, and drilling, they install tuners and strings to complete a makeshift guitar that's perfect for playing the Blues!
