A Day in the Life of an FCS Classroom

🧳 *Intro to FCS* students were busy creating concierge documents and eye-catching travel & tourism flyers (not pictured but definitely impressive!).

👶 *Child Development* students practiced real-world skills by learning how to properly swaddle, bathe, feed, and change babies.

🛒 *Culinary* students headed to the grocery store for their $15 Meal Challenge, carefully planning meals that included servings from all five food groups 🍎 🥦 🌾 🥛 🥩

🍪 We wrapped up the day with Foods 1 rolling out dough and baking festive Christmas cookies—learning techniques while spreading some holiday cheer!

So proud of our students for their creativity, teamwork, and life-ready skills every single day! 🎄👏

We’ve been so busy in the Foods 1 kitchen that we totally forgot to share this… Our students made homemade bagels from scratch! 🥯✨

They mixed and kneaded their own dough, let it rise, shaped each bagel by hand, then gave them the classic boil-and-bake treatment for that perfect chewy texture.

The kitchen smelled amazing!

To top it all off, they whipped up their own flavored cream cheeses—strawberry, veggie, cinnamon, and classic whipped. 🧁🌿🍓

Our culinary students took beloved classic dishes and turned them all the way up this week — turning classic dishes into elevated creations.

I didn’t get photos of everyone’s plates, but pictured here: an ultra-fancy French toast and a beautifully crafted gourmet burger. Other revamped classics included PB&J reimagined, spaghetti with a twist, elevated quesadillas, fluffy cinnamon roll pancakes, and more.

So proud of the creativity, technique, and flavor these students brought to the table!

🎄✨ The Missouri Valley FCCLA officers enjoyed spreading some holiday cheer while decorating a Christmas tree at the historic Dodge House!

This year’s theme, “It’s a Wonderful Life,” inspired a vintage-style tree that reflects the warmth and gratitude of the era. Just as George Bailey learned, true leadership isn’t about personal gain—it’s about the impact we make in the lives of others.

Through teamwork, creativity, and service, our members are reminded that leadership is about finding joy in giving back and making our community a better place. ❤️

Our Foods 1 students took on a tasty and artistic challenge — making focaccia bread for the very first time! For many, it was their first time ever trying focaccia, and despite all the colorful veggies on top… most of them loved it! 🥕🌶️

Each student designed their own Garden Focaccia Art, turning simple dough into edible masterpieces. Now it’s your turn to help us choose the favorite!

🎃🍪 Things got spooky (and sweet!) in Foods class this week! Students made festive treats like Reese’s pumpkins, spider cookies, and dirt-and-worms cookies. Great teamwork, creativity, and plenty of tasty results!

🧵🦖 Our Intro to FCS students showed off their creativity and patience while hand-sewing dinosaur chicken nugget plushies! This project helped students practice basic sewing techniques, follow a process from start to finish, and express personal style!

Congratulations to our Muffin Wars champions!
Kamdyn and Katy took the win with their delicious Pumpkin Streusel Muffins, while Andy and Alyssa impressed the judges with their Banana Nut Muffins.
